Western New England College has lived up to my expectations and given me the chance to chart new waters.

"I worked for ESPN, but I always knew I wanted to go to law school," says former Student Bar Association President Kelly Koch. When she graduated from Brandeis University in 1996, she had three goals: to work in sports, to teach, and to go to law school. She will have completed all three when she graduates from the School of Law this spring.

After college, Kelly spent eight years writing and producing features and editing highlights for ESPN programs and later became Chris Berman's statistician for NFL Prime Time.

Her most treasured accomplishment, Kelly says, is the Cable Ace Award she and several other producers received for a documentary they produced on Jackie Robinson's breaking baseball's color barrier. To have Rachel Robinson, his widow, come up to me and say "thank you, you got it right" was the ultimate compliment, Kelly says.

Looking to achieve her second goal, she began coaching at a high school in Connecticut and eventually teaching English while continuing to work part-time for ESPN. By 2004, Koch was ready for another challenge and enrolled in the School of Law. "It's a good fit because of the versatility it offers its students."
