While legal research and writing can be a challenging part of the law school curriculum, it provides essential skills our graduates will use in many career paths. Throughout his career, Rick Schwabacher has written extensively on environmental issues.

Rick, who headed the Washington office of the Cousteau Society also served as a Legislative Assistant to Senator S.I. Hayakawa of California, and as the Legislative Counsel for Congressman William Hughes of New Jersey.

"To actually see an idea for a legislative proposal move from your word processor to being introduced as a legislative proposal to having congressional hearings on it to seeing it pass in the House and working with the Senate to see similar legislation passed was an incredible process."
